Cultural Activities
The extra added value to this workshop was that we learned so much about Japanese culture and history as part of the overall experience. The photos show only highlights including Ikebana lesson, the art of flower arrangement, participating in the ancient formal tea ceremony, an evening at a traditional hot springs, and visit to a local ceramics studio. Hiro taught the Ikebana lesson, an art he has studied since he was 16 years old. It takes a life time to master this art form. We only had a few hours to "attempt" Ikebana ourselves. However, we were pretty proud of our arrangements in any case and were asked to bring them inside the farmhouse to find a place to display them.
