Introduction to Japanese Indigo
On our second day, Bryan started out with a morning lecture on the Japanese craft movement and history immediately following breakfast. He then showed us how to mix the indigo from plant to finished dye. We started our projects and got right into the hands-on process, literally turning our hands blue. Over the next 9 days we worked on dozens of projects—sometimes working until late at night.
