Japan Tour & Shibori Workshop 2015: Welcome to Fujino & the Farmhouse
Welcome to the Japanese Indigo Textile Workshop owned and operated by textile artist, Bryan Whitehead. I was lucky enough to accidentally find this workshop online and grab one of the remaining spots almost 10 months in advance. The photos on this page show you the general ambiance of the 150 year old farmhouse and indigo plantation in Fujino, Japan about 1 hour west of Tokyo. The idyllic mountain village is gorgeous with surrounding mountains, tea plantations and hiking trails leading to views of Mt. Fuji. It was almost like stepping back in time 100 years. Included below are interior photos showing the spacious common areas of the three level farmhouse, studios with looms, dining, seating and lounging areas, traditional Japanese bath house, Western style bathrooms, comfortable bedrooms set up for 2 persons per room, and other details such as the lovely floral arrangements, library and handicrafts collections. We were welcomed with open arms and felt right at home immediately.
