Touring Old Tokyo
The next day we visited the old areas of Tokyo which included Asakusa and Kamakura, and the coastal area of Zushi. There we saw ancient temples, shrines, zen gardens, the coast of the bay with lunch by the waterfront. We ended our day by watching the sunset over the water where there many windsurfers and paddle boarders. We dined at the original Chaya restaurant, 300 year old parent restaurant of the well known Chaya Brasserie and Chaya Venice in Los Angeles. We enjoyed a 10 course elaborate sushi dinner which was exquisitely presented with an Autumn theme. I spent my last day on my own exploring some of the modern department stores in the Shinjuko area. By the end of the trip, I knew my way around Tokyo pretty well and was able to get around the city on the subway and easily back to the airport. It was a great experience that I will never forget.
